This 12-day adventure starts in Sydney, then takes you to the best of South Australia before going on to Ayers Rock and the Great Barrier Reef.  Enjoy two amazing all inclusive rail journeys on the Ghan Train from Adelaide to Alice Springs, and the Indian Pacific Train from Sydney to Adelaide, each includes gourmet meals, all beverages and off train excursions.

Day 1: Depart Sydney on the Indian Pacific

This is the start of one of the world’s great train journeys. Depart Sydney on the Indian Pacific Train, relax in the comfort of your private cabin or the lounge car, enjoy a complimentary drink and enjoy the magnificent scenery. If you'd like some extra space and comfort, the Gold Service Superior Cabin features a 3/4 size double bed and an additional fold-down single bed. It has its own lounge area with a table, armchairs, a well-stocked bar fridge with complimentary refreshments, your own private DVD player and a range of finer appointments to make your journey even more special.

Day 2: Keswick Rail Station to Adelaide City Hotel

Mercure Grosvenor Adelaide The Mercure Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide is an imposing 5-storey hotel on North Terrace in the heart of the Adelaide business district, opposite the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Casino, Adelaide Festival Centre, and in the hub of Adelaide's entertainment district. Day 3: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

An early morning pick up from your hotel for a scenic coach transfer to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the SeaLink ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will board your luxury SeaLink coach and your local driver/guide will take you on a tour of South Australia's premier nature-based tourism destination. Your first official stop will be Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where you will listen to an introductory talk about the history of the oil distillery and take a guided tour. Finish off with some free time in their souvenir shop where you will find an assortment of Eucalyptus products. Continue onto Vivonne Bay Bistro located on a 260 hectare bush property, for a delicious two course lunch. After lunch visit Seal Bay Conservation Park and enjoy a guided beach walk with a National Park Ranger amongst a breeding colony of wild and rare Australian sea lions. Your tour will then visit another amazing wildlife attraction, the fascinating In-flight Birds of Prey Display at Raptor Domain. Enjoy a delightful interactive experience and meet an array of birds and raptors. From here you will travel to Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park where you can get up close with Koalas, see Penguins swim and play, hand feed Kangaroos and Wallabies, learn about endangered species, interact with Snakes, Crocodiles and reptiles and experience Kangaroo Island Wildlife at your fingertips! You will then be transferred back to your chosen overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

After a delicious breakfast, visit Clifford's Honey Farm to enjoy an informative talk by the beekeeper followed by tastings and an opportunity to sample homemade honey ice-cream and honey beauty products. Next, travel to Hanson Bay Visitor Centre & Café for a scrumptious two course lunch. After lunch you have the chance to look for Koalas nestled up in the eucalypts and see an abundance of native birdlife in the wildlife sanctuary. From here, travel to the western most part of the Island, Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia's largest and earliest conservation parks. Travel through the park and enjoy breath-taking views of its unique trees, plants and coastal scenery. You will be taken to the rugged southern coastline for a walk around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities and stunning sea views. Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal this spectacular arch, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals that can be seen swimming and playing in the waves, or resting on the rocks. Return to the Penneshaw Ferry Terminal or Kingscote Airport for the return journey to Adelaide. Day 5: Adelaide City Hotel to Keswick Rail Station

Great Southern Rail Superior, well appointed day and overnight Twin Cabin sleeper accommodation featuring a 3 seater lounge converting to upper and lower sleeping berths plus ensuite facilities with toilet, washbasin and shower. Cabins are fully serviced by carriage attendants with fresh sheets, pillows and doonas. Cabins feature 3 pin/ 240 volt power point, wardrobe, full length mirror, reading light, foldaway table. Complimentary toiletry bags and onboard magazine provided in all Gold Kangaroo Service cabins. Guests receive a Certificate of Travel and 'collector' stick pin upon disembarkation. Day 6: Alice Springs Train Station to Alice Springs Hotel

Low rise architecture and lush green lawns contribute to the relaxed atmosphere of this award-winning resort, situated on the banks of the famous Todd River with its magnificent river red gums. The hotel is only a five to ten minute walk away from the towns bustling cultural, shopping and business centre. The resort features 139 comfortable rooms.

Day 7: Alice Springs to Ayers Rock

Travel from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock) aboard a luxury coach. Take in the rugged desert landscapes of the region, passing through the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. While travelling through this remote country, your friendly Driver/Guide will provide an informative and entertaining commentary. Learn the natural and geological history of the region, as well as the unique Australian desert flora and fauna such as the Perentie monitor lizard, the thorny devil and the red kangaroo. Also hear about the traditional customs and beliefs of the local Aboriginals. There is time for a stop at a local Roadhouse for a quick break then view flat-topped Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Duration 6 Hours Field of Light Star Pass The experience begins with a convenient hotel pick-up to the remote desert location with majestic views of Uluru. You're welcomed at an exclusive elevated viewing area. Your knowledgeable host will provide insights and background to the artist and light installation that awaits you. As the last rays of sun hit Uluru, splashing the rock's façade with colour, and darkness gradually falls, the 50,000 glass spheres gently sparkle to life. Covered under a sky brilliant with stars, Field of Light beckons you to explore and lose yourself momentarily in the rhythms of coloured light. Take in the vast scale of the installation one last time from the raised viewing area as you savour sparkling wine and canapés before your transfer back to your hotel. Duration 2 Hours Desert Gardens Hotel A comfortable 4 star hotel at Ayers Rock Resort, Desert Gardens Hotel is set amongst magnificent ghost gums and flowering native shrubs. Centrally located to all resort facilities, the hotel offers a range of appealing accommodation, from shaded poolside rooms to deluxe rooms with Rock views. With over 65 tours, local activities and attractions at your fingertips, your days will be action-packed or for a more relaxing experience, a visit to the new Red Ochre Spa is highly recommended. Relax in the comfort of your private balcony or courtyard, or unwind near the pool over cocktails. It's only a short stroll to the numerous lookouts, where you can view one of the best sunsets in Australia, with the spectacular play of colours across the face of Uluru. Once the sun sets, you can try some Australian native delicacies at White Gums Restaurant, or try one of the other 13 dining experiences available throughout the Resort.

Day 8: Uluru Sunrise and Kata Tjuta

Rise early this morning to travel to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku in Uluru & Kata Tjuta National Park. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. Duration 5 Hours Sounds of Silence Dinner Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence offers the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours. An unforgettable evening, dining under the sparkling outback sky. Your journey begins on a lone sand dune. A meandering path takes you to an uninterrupted, three hundred and sixty degree view of this vast landscape. In front of you are the fabled Uluru; behind you are the domes of Kata Tjuta and, possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here you enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapes. As the sun sets in a blaze of reds and oranges, and well into the starlit night, you feast on a barbecue buffet of authentic Australian delicacies. Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing, as our resident astronomer takes you on an unforgettable tour of the spectacular southern night sky. Day 9: Complimentary Transfer from Ayers Rock Resort to Ayers Rock Airport

The hotel features a variety of room types, each with their own private balcony, hosting stunning views over beautiful Trinity Bay or surrounding tropical mountains.

Day 10: Quicksilver Cruises Outer Barrier Reef Cruise ex Cairns

For an experience of a lifetime, Quicksilver's wave piercing catamarans and friendly crew will take you to a reef at the very edge of Australia's Continental Shelf, to an underwater world that is a dazzling kaleidoscope of colour and brilliance. Agincourt Reef is a magnificent ribbon reef where you can experience first-hand the magic that is the Great Barrier Reef. Choose to dive (extra cost), snorkel, or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a semi-sub, just one metre underwater. Watch the fish feeding from a unique underwater viewing platform and underwater observatory, or fly in a helicopter over the reef (extra cost). Whichever way you choose; you'll bring home a lifetime of memories from this living natural wonder.

Day 11: Kuranda Classic Tour with Train Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Rainforestation

The Classic Kuranda Experience includes the main attractions of Kuranda, but gives you more free time to explore Kuranda. You will travel to Kuranda by scenic railway and then spend some free time in the village. Wander through the many shops and local markets, which offer a full range of local handicrafts, souvenirs, and gifts. You will then be transferred to Rainforestation Nature Park, where you will enjoy a delicious Australian BBQ lunch, a guided tour of the rainforest on board an amphibious Army Duck, and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance performance, followed by the Dreamtime Walk. You will learn how to throw a boomerang, see a spear-throwing demonstrations, and learn about aboriginal culture. A guided tour of the Koala and Wildlife Park will commence at the Cultural Centre. Your coach will then transfer you to Kuranda Skyrail Terminal for the 7.5 kilometre Skyrail Rainforest Cableway journey down the mountain. Your coach will then return you to your accommodation.

Day 12: Cairns City to Cairns Airport

This trip departs from Sydney on Wednesdays and from Cairns on Fridays. If departing from Cairns an extra nights accommodation is required in Adelaide (cost additional). The Ghan does not operate from May to August.
